From Our Commissioners
A brilliant course that taught me a lot with supporting families living complex lives and how to support them. Highly recommend to other professionals
Education Support Worker, Bournemouth
Sue has been a fantastic and motivating teacher, and has brought a freshness and excitement to both the training and the job role.
Thank you, the training has been invaluable for me and I know that I will continually use the skills and knowledge gained.
Family Support Worker, Barnardos Gloucestershire
The training and the course content is great, Sue is highly experienced within the field, having been in the family support worker or similar community roles herself she is able to really understand what it is like working in frontline services. Her knowledge and passion is amazing and she wants everyone to be successful and develop. Her passion is infectious!! Sue provides consistent support throughout and is great at responding. If you are ever stuck don’t panic as she is the most approachable trainer I have met and she is committed to helping her students achieve.
Course Content is great, really reflects what happens with our roles and encourages self-reflection. The course is a fantastic toolkit to implement when working with families, lots of ideas and theories to support best practice

Having read through the feedback, it really feels like “train to equip” has done what it says on the tin! I get a sense that staff have really embraced the tools and approaches that you’ve shared with them and that this has equipped and inspired them to improve and enhance their practice with children and with families.
Liz Maslen, Children’s Workforce Development Manager, Nottinghamshire
Thank you so much for being so positive and responsive Sue– you are truly exceptional and I feel very lucky to have found you!
Lucy Johns, Project Manager, Dorset Families Matter
As a Practice Development Manager we were looking for a relevant qualification for practitioners delivering Family Intervention. Without exception those who have participated in this course have said it’s been the some of the best training they’ve ever received:
“I found the training to be hugely beneficial and perfect for the work that we do. The trainers were honest, approachable and passionate. They really understood the work that we do and the challenges we face.”
Sue has been very supportive of the progress of individual learners, she’s encouraged them every step of the way and has provided some very helpful pointers on stumbling blocks for them to watch out for. Sue and her team have also been flexible with regards to the course content, clarifying queries and supporting learners to evidence their work in a more effective way.
“Whilst doing the portfolio, I was fully supported, by Sue and feedback was given on every task, to ensure that my work was to the highest level and to obtain a pass. I felt that Sue gave encouragement and praise throughout the portfolio tasks and felt that she always had time for any query, no matter the day or time.
”Overall the feedback from participants has been very positive and I would recommend this level 4 Intense Support for Families with Complex Needs for any practitioner delivering Family Intervention.
Molly Macleod -Families First Practice Development Manager, Gloucestershire County Council
The initial meeting with Sue created a clear understanding of my aims for the training and the team were responsive in tailoring the offer to suit a mixed range of abilities within the key worker cohort. They used a mixed range of delivery and with direct experience of the field of work and national agendas they could relate to the group direct examples of practice. The feedback I have received from the team has been positive.
James Hill – Troubled Families Coordinator – Portsmouth City Council
Cheshire West and Chester were very impressed with the quality of Sue Rastall’s organisations work and the vast knowledge of family intervention, legislation and benefits to employment. They supported the team to complete workbooks for their accreditation and feedback has been excellent.
Sonia Bassey-Williams, Senior Manager – Families Together, Cheshire West and Chester Council
The Family Working training Sue and Maxine have delivered has helped us to develop and embed the family intervention approach across the Worcestershire Stronger Families workforce. We already had a very experienced team; however everyone who attended came away with a renewed appetite to do their best in supporting families and were excited to take away knowledge of new tools and techniques to improve the work they do. The trainers are engaging and respected by the practitioners as it is evident the training is based on real hands on knowledge.
Melanie Bailey – Head of Families, Vestia Community Trust, Worcestershire
Everyone is still buzzing from the training and eager to put the tools presented into practice. I would like to thank you for the superb training.

Families First Plus Key Worker, Gloucestershire, Level 4 – Intense Support to Families with Complex Needs
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do my level 4 with Train to Equip. They delivered the training in a way that meets the needs of so many different styles of learning. The training is a mixture of theory and practical work and the balance works really well. I particularly like the use of the learner book, not only for the workshops and assignments, but it is something I can look back on in the future to enhance my practice. The trainers have the upmost experience and this is evident throughout the training. The trainers helped me to reflect on my practice and highlight what my strengths were. They introduced me to new skills which have really helped in the work I do. The support provided during the workshops, and throughout the time of completing the assignments was amazing. They respond to questions very quickly which was helpful particularly whilst trying to complete assignments. Thank you Train to Equip, the way you deliver the course and the support you provide is perfect! I highly recommend this training provider.

The best part about the Level 4, Working with Parents (Intense Support to Families with Complex needs) is that I really feel that this has supported and improved my every day work practice. I have taken away some useful tools and I think the word “impact” is tattooed in my brain for life!. I have thoroughly enjoyed this learning and feel that I have gained so much, which I will continue to put into practice. Finally a really big thank you for all of your support, extremely quick responses and positive encouragement.
